Primary Medical and Specialist Care

The LIFE Geisinger Center clinic is staffed by a primary care physician specializing in
geriatrics as well as registered and licensed practical nurses.

We see participants for pre-set
appointments, but also provide care on an
as needed basis.  In our clinic, the older
adult can also receive:

  • Wound Care
  • IV therapy
  • Medication administration
  • EKG's
  • and more

Rehabilitation Therapy

Physical, occupational, and speech therapy services help strengthen the participant's
ability to continue living on their own. Participants work on issues such as maintaining their ambulation and transfer ability, and their ability to complete self care and feeding. Our therapists follow up on any falls that occur and try to prevent those from recurring

In addition to these services, we offer group programs for any individual who wishes to join in:

Meal Assistance - promotes a regular dining
experience by helping those who need special
assistance

Walk to Dine - promotes mobility and a regular dining
experience with the help of physical therapists

Exercise Group - enhances strength and coordination
through exercise regimens with occupational and
physical therapists

Rise and Shine - involves participants with medium to
severe cognitive (memory, comprehension) problems in
engaging activities

Morning Life - helps those with mild cognitive
impairments stay functioning at that level with memory-
based and other activities

Therapy staff also works closely with the activities department when the participants are taken on community outings, by assisting with the mobility needs of the participants during these outings to encourage walking instead of riding in wheelchairs.

Our therapy staff is also instrumental in assessing the needs of our participants in their home as well. Therapists assess the home and make modifications as needed to ensure a safe environment. This may include providing ramps, hand rails or grab bars.
